Volunteers in schools
Young Life Australia places caring and responsible young adults into schools to mentor, guide and support high school age teenagers.
We are focussed on connecting with young people where they spend most of their time, and providing strong and positive influences in their lives. We seek to instil a sense of purpose and values in teenagers in order to try and minimise the risk of young people from carrying out dangerous activities like binge drinking, drug taking and high risk behaviour, through instigating meaningful relationships with adult role models.
Our Volunteers in Schools program provides young people with a leader who wants nothing more than to connect with them in their own environment. These leaders are fully screened and authorised for working with children, and there is no cost to the school.
Young Life’s aim is to enhance the school experience and foster a stronger and more resilient community. Our volunteers offer different services depending on the specific needs of your school. These include:
- Mentor and leadership programs
- Pancake breakfasts (we provide free)
- Teachers aides and scripture teachers
- Coaching and training sporting teams
- Organising and supervising lunchtime activities
- Added supervision for school camps
- After school tutoring where needed
Young Life Australia provides our Volunteers in Schools service free of charge. For more information or to arrange a meeting with your local Young Life Australia Area Director, senior teachers, SAS staff and Principals are most welcome to contact us.
